Week 8: Cross Country Runners of the Week
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following Cross Country Runners-of-the-Week for October 17-23, 2022. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2022-2023 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Cross Country Runners-of-the Week
Women – Jessica Kampman, Dordt University
Jessica Kampman of Dordt University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week. Kampman, a senior from Abbotsford, British Columbia, was the top NAIA runner at the Mount Marty Invite held last weekend on the Fox Run Golf Course in Yankton, South Dakota. Kampman finished second overall in the 5K race with a time of 18:18, trailing only a runner from NCAA Division II. Kampman's runner-up finish was her third straight and the senior now has 11 top-ten finishes this season.
Men – Joe Anderson, Dordt University
Joe Anderson of Dordt University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week. Anderson, a senior from George, Iowa, captured his second consecutive individual championship as he won the Mount Marty Invite held last weekend in Yankton, South Dakota. Anderson completed the 8K course in 25:00, two seconds ahead of his teammate and runner-up Eric Steiger and in front of a field of 145 runners from NAIA and NCAA Division II schools. Anderson has finished in the top 10 in three of his four meets this fall and has seven top 10 finishes for his career. He led the third-ranked Defenders to their second-consecutive team title.
