Week 6: Cross Country Runners of the Week
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following Cross Country Runners-of-the-Week for October 3-9, 2022. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2022-2023 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Cross Country Runners-of-the Week
Women – Jessica Kampman, Dordt University
Jessica Kampman of Dordt University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week. Kampman, a senior from Abbotsford, British Columbia, finished second at the Holiday Inn Express Classic hosted by Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa. She crossed the finish line with a 5K time of 18:16 and finished second overall for the second consecutive week. Kampman, who now has 10 top-10 finishes for her career, helped lead the Defenders to the team title at its home meet.
Men – Joe Anderson, Dordt University
Joe Anderson of Dordt University is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week. Anderson, a senior from George, Iowa, won the individual title and helped lead the Defenders to the team championship at last weekend's Holiday Inn Express Classic held on the campus of Dordt University. Anderson finished the 8K race with a personal best time of 24:19, nearly a minute faster than his previous best PR, and won by three seconds over his teammate, Eric Steiger. Anderson now has two top 10 finishes in three races this season Dordt won the team title with 27 points, 33 ahead of second place and 14th-ranked Grand View.
