Week 11: GPAC Women's Volleyball Players of the Week
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following Volleyball players-of-the-week for contests played October 30-November 5, 2023. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2023-2024 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Volleyball Players-of-the-Week
Attacker – Aleah Zieske, University of Jamestown (Outside)
Aleah Zieske of The University of Jamestown is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Attacker-of-the-Week. Zieske, a junior from Spicer, Minnesota, had 24 kills and 19 digs as Jamestown finished the regular season with a four-set win over Dakota Wesleyan. She had 13 kills and 12 digs for the Jimmies in their GPAC quarterfinal victory over Morningside and currently ranks ninth on the Jamestown top 10 single-season kills list (410).
Setter – Bree Burtwistle, Concordia University
Bree Burtwistle of Concordia University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Setter-of-the-Week. Burtwistle, a senior from Stanton, Nebraska, guided Concordia to wins over No. 18 Midland to end the regular season and over Dakota Wesleyan in the GPAC quarterfinals. Burtwistle posted a combined 99 assists (14.14/set), 24 digs, four kills, two aces and two blocks for the week. As part of the win over the Tigers, she surpassed 3,000 career assists.
Defender – Lauryn Samuelson, Midland University (Middle)
Midland's Lauren Samuelson is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Defender-of-the-Week. Samuelson, a senior from Oxford, Nebraska, averaged 2.5 blocks per set this week for the Warriors. In Midland's GPAC Quarterfinal match against the College of Saint Mary, she had a career-high 13 blocks to go along with a pair of digs.
