GPAC Women's Volleyball Tournament Pairings Announced
(Sioux City, Iowa) – Northwestern College will be the will be the number one seed when the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Volleyball Tournament opens on Saturday, November 4, at the top four seeds in Quarterfinal Round action.
The Red Raiders are the top seed after sharing the regular season title this fall with a 14-2 record. Northwestern, Concordia, and Jamestown are the tri-champions of the league. The two seed will be Concordia, who also finished with a league record of 14-2. Jamestown will be the three seed after finishing league play at 14-2 as well. Midland will be the four seed with the league record of 10-6. College of Saint Mary will be the five seed (10-6), with Morningside as the six seed (8-8). Dakota Wesleyan will be the seventh seed (8-8) and Doane will be the eighth seed (6-10).
GPAC tiebreakers were used to seed the tournament.
Northwestern will receive the GPAC regular season automatic berth to the NAIA National Women's Volleyball Championship as the number one seed. The GPAC Volleyball Tournament winner (runner-up if Northwestern wins) also receives an automatic berth to the NAIA National Volleyball Championship.
The 2023 NAIA Volleyball National Championship includes a field of 48 teams. All 48 teams will play in opening round matches played on campus sites nationwide on November 18. The opening round winners will play at the final site for a 24-team pool play NAIA National Championship November 29 – December 5, 2023, in Sioux City at the Tyson Events Center.
