Week 4: GPAC Women's Volleyball Players of the Week
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following Volleyball players-of-the-week for contests played September 11-17, 2023. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2023-2024 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Volleyball Players-of-the-Week
Attacker – Lauren Williams, Midland University (Right Side)
Midland's Lauren Williams is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Attacker-of-the-Week. Williams, a sophomore from Council Bluffs, Iowa, was a key cog for the Warriors' offense as they picked up a pair of conference wins last week. In Midland's four-set win over Hastings, she hit a blistering .536 on the attack with a career-high 17 kills. For the week, she had 27 kills through seven sets while hitting .420. Defensively, she added six block assists and a pair of digs.
Setter- Bree Burtwistle, Concordia University
Bree Burtwistle of Concordia is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Setter-of-the-Week. Burtwistle, a senior from Stanton, Nebraska, averaged 12.14 assists per set last week as No. 2 Concordia defeated Doane and No. 9 College of Saint Mary. Burtwistle also added a total of 25 digs, seven kills, five blocks and two aces. The Bulldogs hit .388 versus Doane and .244 at CSM. On the season, Concordia ranks second nationally in hitting percentage (.303).
Defender – Ellie Holen, University of Jamestown (Defensive Specialist)
Jamestown defensive specialist Ellie Holen is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Defender-of-the-Week. Holen, a senior from LaMoure, North Dakota, had another stellar week for the Jimmies. She finished the week with 37 total digs a pair of straight set sweeps for Jamestown. She averaged 6.17 digs per set.
