2024 GPAC Indoor Track and Field Honors Announced
(Sioux City, Iowa) – Honors for the 2024 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Indoor Track and Field Season have been announced. The 2024 GPAC Indoor Track and Field Championships were this past Friday and Saturday at Mount Marty University and the Ruth Donohoe First Dakota Fieldhouse.
The top Track and Field Performances-of-the-Meet and the Coaching Staff-of-the-Year honors were voted on by the league coaches. GPAC Athlete-of-the-Meet honors went to the highest individual point scorers in the meet. The GPAC Athletes-of-the-Meet winners are the GPAC Athletes-of-the-Year.
The Outstanding Performances -of-the-Meet were voted on by the league coaches and are as follows:
Women's Track Performance –
Jessica Kampman, Dordt – 3,000 meters (10:05.68 – GPAC Record)
Women's Field Performance –
Kiara Anderson, Hastings – Weight Throw (19.00m/62-04 – GPAC Record)
Men's Track Performance –
Zach Turner, Doane – 60 Meter Hurdles (7.96 – GPAC Record)
Men's Field Performance –
Braden Kavelage, Northwestern – Long Jump (7.47 m/24-06.25 – GPAC Record)
Nine GPAC records were broken this past weekend in Yankton:
Zach Turner, Doane – 60 Hurdles (7.96)
Edwin Nyamutsua, Mount Marty – 200 Meters (21.72)
Payton Mauldin, Dordt – 400 Meters (47.89)
Craig Becker, Dordt – Mile (4:13.63)
Braden Kalvelage, Northwestern – Long Jum (7.47m/24-06.25)
Kerrigan Meyers, Midland – 60 Hurdles (Open) (8.51)
Kerrigan Meyers, Midland – 60 Hurdles (Pentathlon) (8.57)

Josie Garrett from Doane was named the Female GPAC Athlete-of-the-Meet scoring 25.75 points. Payton Mauldin from Dordt was named the Male GPAC Athlete-of-the-Meet scoring 28 points. Both will be honored as the Hauff Mid-America Sports GPAC Indoor Track and Field Athletes-of-the-Year.
Matt Beisel and the Concordia staff has been named the Jim McMahon - Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Women's Indoor Coach/Program-of-the-Year. The Bulldogs won the women's title on Saturday with 206 points.
Ed Fye and the Doane staff has been named the Fred Beile - Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Men's Coach/Program-of-the-Year. The Tigers won the men's title on Saturday with 195 points.

The top eight in each event and top three relays are considered GPAC All-Conference for Indoor Track and Field.
The 2024 NAIA National Indoor Track and Field Championships are February 29-March 2 in Brookings, South Dakota, at South Dakota State University inside the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
