Week 6: Women's Indoor Track & Field Honors
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following women's indoor track & field athletes-of-the-week for events held January 30-February 5, 2023. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2022-2023 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week
Field Events – Kiara Anderson, Hastings College
Kiara Anderson from Hastings College is this week's field athlete-of-the-week. Anderson, a senior, from Mesa, Arizona, finished second in the women's weight (she was the top NAIA finisher) with an "A" standard throw of 17.82m (58' 5.75"). Currently she is ranked first in the GPAC and in the NAIA in the weight throw. She bested the second-ranked NAIA women's weight thrower head-to-head by over one meter.
Track Events – Jessica Kampman, Dordt University
Jessica Kampman of Dordt University is this week's track athlete-of-the-week. Kampman, a senior, from Abbotsford, British Columbia, met the 'A' standard and shattered the school record in the 5K at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invite held last weekend. Kampman was the first to cross the finish line and recorded a time of 17:18, bettering the school record by 11 seconds. Kampman's time is the fastest time in the GPAC and ranks fifth in the NAIA. She has also qualified for nationals in the 3K.
