Week 5: Women's Indoor Track & Field Honors
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following women's indoor track & field athletes-of-the-week for events held January 23-29, 2023. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2022-2023 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Field Events – Kiara Anderson, Hastings College
Kiara Anderson from Hastings College is this week's field athlete-of-the-week. Anderson, a senior, from Mesa, Arizona, competed in the shot and weight Friday at the Charlie Foster Classic hosted by the University of Nebraska-Kearney. She was the top NAIA finisher and fourth place overall in the shot put (12.84m). She went on to finish second in the weight throw (again the top NAIA finisher) with an "A" standard national qualifying throw of 17.34m. Anderson is the NAIA leader in the women's weight throw.
Track Events – Veronica Pinkerton, Hastings College
Veroncia Pinkerton of Hastings College is this week's track athlete-of-the-week. Pinkerton, a junior, from Beatrice, Nebraska, won the 800m run Friday at the Charlie Foster Classic hosted by the University of Nebraska-Kearney. Pinkerton ran a season best 2:15.09 which converts to a 2:12.91. That time was an "A" standard national qualifying time and is the second fastest in the NAIA and leads the GPAC by over four seconds.
