Morningside Holds Team and Individual Lead After Day One of the GPAC Women's Golf Championships
(Spencer, Iowa) - The Morningside women's golf team holds the club house lead with 36 of 54 holes complete after day one in the 2024 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women's Golf Championships in Spencer, Iowa, at the Spencer Country Club.

Battling through windy, but warm, conditions the Mustangs shot a team total of 646 to hold the team lead by 19 strokes. Briar Cliff is in second at 665, with Dakota Wesleyan and Mount Marty tied for third after two rounds of play at 679.
Individually, Sofia Castelan from Morningside, is the individual leader. Castelan shot a two-round total of 152 (75, 77) as she seeks her third consecutive individual conference championship. Isabella Crafford (Jamestown), Lucy Brown (Morningside), and Helene Getz Bergmo (Briar Cliff) are tied for second at 160.
Play resumes on Tuesday with split tees starting at 9am.

10th - 12th place (Concordia, College of Saint Mary, Midland), followed by 7th - 9th place (Northwestern, Dordt, Hastings) teams

The GPAC Team Champion advances to the NAIA National Championships in Silvis, Illinois, May 14-17 at TPC Deere Run. The individual champion (unless on the winning team) will also advance to the NAIA Championships.
