Week 8: GPAC Golfers of the Week

(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following golfers-of-the-week for March 6-12, 2023. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2022-2023 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Golfers-of-the-Week

Women – Sofia Castelan, Morningside University
Sofia Castelan of Morningside University is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Golfer-of-the-Week. Castelan, a junior from Queretaro, Mexico, was Morningside's top finisher as the Mustangs returned to the links at the Okeeheelee Golf Course in Florida, tying for 15th place in the 37-athlete field, carding a 240. Morningside placed sixth at the Keiser Kup, falling to the back of a strong pack, shooting a three-day, 54-hole, total of 1080.

Men – Braden Bernaldo, Morningside University
Braden Bernaldo of Morningside University is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Golfer-of-the-Week. Bernaldo, a freshman from Indio, California, was the top finisher for Morningside, shooting rounds of 72, 77, and 74 strokes to tie for 10th place with 224 total strokes at the Lindsey Wilson Showdown at Legends in Myrtle Beach. Morningside tallied a team total of 298 in the first round and 307 in the second round, settling in seventh place with 929 strokes across the two-days.
