Northwestern and Midland Advance to GPAC Softball Championship Series

(Sioux City, Iowa) – Top seed Northwestern and three seed Midland each posted bracket wins on Wednesday and will now play in the Championship Series of the 2023 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Tournament.

At the Northwestern bracket, eight seed Mount Marty won a 4-3 elimination game over five seed Briar Cliff in 12 innings.  In championship game one the host Red Raiders remained undefeated in the bracket and advanced to the championship with an 8-1 win over the Lancers.

At the Morningside bracket, two seed Morningside won an elimination game over seven seed Hastings 5-0.  In championship game one three seed Midland advanced with an 8-2 win in 13 innings over the Mustangs and went 3-0 in the bracket. 

Northwestern has secured the league's first berth to the NAIA Opening Round as regular season champion, while Midland is now guaranteed the second berth for the GPAC to the NAIA Opening Round.  The two brackets were double elimination, with the final being a best two of three series.  GPAC tie-breakers were used in the seeding process.
