Week 5: Softball Players of the Week

(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the softball player and pitcher-of-the-week for contests played March 14-20, 2023. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2022-2023 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Softball Weekly Honors

Pitcher – Aliyah Rincon, Midland University

Aliyah Rincon of Midland University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports pitcher-of-the-week. Rincon, a junior from Granada Hills, California, pitched a perfect game this week at Nebraska Wesleyan. She sat down the first 12 hitters via a strikeout and totaled 14 punchouts for the game. At the plate, she had an RBI double in game one and then added two more RBI in game two. This season, she has a record of 9-2 with an ERA of 1.87 with 97 strikeouts.

Player – Gwen Mikkelsen, Northwestern College (Infielder)

Gwen Mikkelsen of Northwestern College is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports softball player-of-the-week. Mikkelsen, a junior from Casa Grande, Arizona, went 10-15 at the plate in Northwestern's 4-0 start to GPAC play this week. She hit a home run on Wednesday, drove in six runs, and had a slugging percentage of 1.067. She extended her hitting streak to eight games and drove in five runs in a doubleheader sweep over Dakota Wesleyan. Each of her four appearances this week saw her record multiple hits.
