Week 1: Softball Players of the Week

(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the softball player and pitcher-of-the-week for contests played February 20-26, 2023. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2022-2023 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Softball Weekly Honors

Pitcher – Kameryn Etherington, Northwestern College

Kameryn Etherington of Northwestern College is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports pitcher-of-the-week. Etherington, a junior from Algona, Iowa, had two complete-game shutouts in both of her appearances last weekend. She struck out a total of 22 batters and gave up only five total hits in 14 innings pitched. She now has three consecutive complete-game shutouts as Northwestern improved to 16-0 overall.

Player – Gwen Mikkelsen, Northwestern College (Infield)

Gwen Mikkelsen of Northwestern College is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports softball player-of-the-week. Mikkelsen, a junior from Casa Grande, Arizona, was perfect at the plate twice, going 4-for-4 in half of the games she played on the week. In Friday's win over Dakota State, Mikkelsen hit two home runs and had three RBI. She had two RBI each in Saturday's wins and had a slugging percentage of 1.133 on the weekend.
