Week 7: GPAC Cross Country Runners of the Week

(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following Cross Country Runners-of-the-Week for October 14-20, 2024. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2024-2025 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program. 

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Cross Country Runners-of-the Week

Women – Danika Leuenberger, Midland University

Danika Leuenberger of Midland University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week. Leuenberger, a freshman from Granger, Iowa, placed 56th at the Platte River Rumble on Friday. Having to contend with a 20mph wind through roughly one-third of the race, she turned in a time of 26:35.

Men – Lucas Hjortkjaer, Midland University

Lucas Hjortkjaer of Midland University is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week.  Hjortkjaer, a sophomore from Hvalso, Denmark, placed 25th at the Platte River Rumble on Friday. Running into a 20mph wind through one-third of the race, he posted a time of 27:11 to lead Midland to a 5th-place finish.
