Morningside Wins 2023 GPAC Wrestling Duals Title

(Sioux City, Iowa) - In a match that went wire to wire, the Morningside wrestling team won the 2023 GPAC Wrestling Duals Championship with an 18-16 win over Doane in the final match at the GPAC Duals Day in Sioux City, Iowa.

The Mustangs and Tigers came into the final match both 7-0 in prior conference duals. Each bout was tight and Doane needed a pin or major decision in the heavyweight to win the match. Morningside held on for the two point win to claim the title.

GPAC wrestling teams now focus on postseason and qualifying for the NAIA Nationals in Wichita, Kansas, this March 3-4.

The GPAC/NAIA North Qualifier Tournament will be February 17-18 at Doane University in Crete, Nebraska.

The GPAC Duals Day today was hosted by the conference at the Long Lines Familty Recreation Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
