Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week
Field Events – Chris Wren, Concordia University
Concordia University's Chris Wren is this week's field athlete-of-the-week. Wren, a senior from Fair Oaks, California, achieved a personal best of 198' 6" in the hammer throw and won the competition at the Concordia Invite. The mark ranks No. 5 on the program's all-time list. Entering the weekend, only two throwers nationally had eclipsed that mark in the hammer in all of the NAIA.
Track Events – Payton Mauldin, Dordt University
Dordt University's Payton Mauldin is this week's track athlete-of-the-week. Mauldin, a senior from George, Iowa, won two events and finished as the runner-up in a third at the USD Early Bird Invite held last weekend in Vermillion, S.D. On Friday, Mauldin took first place and hit the 'A standard with a time of 1:51.06, the No.2 time in the NAIA to date. On Saturday, Mauldin finished second in the 200m and anchored the winning 4x400 relay in the final event of the day. The Defenders 4x400 relay has the No.1 time in the GPAC.
