Field Events – Mayson Ostermeyer, Concordia University
Mayson Ostermeyer from Concordia University is this week's field athlete-of-the-week. Ostermeyer, a junior from Crofton, Nebraska, cleared 16 feet in the pole vault for the fourth-straight meet this indoor season. His mark of 16-00.75 at the Beile Classic won the competition by nearly two feet. Ostermeyer continues to lead the NAIA in the event with the personal best vault of 16-04.75 achieved on Jan. 24.
Track Events – Isaac Davelaar, Dordt University
Dordt University's Isaac Davelaar is this week's track athlete-of-the-week. Davelaar, a sophomore, from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, reached the qualifying standard in three events at the SDSU D2 / NAIA Open last weekend. On Friday night, Davelaar was part of a Defenders 4x800 relay team that finished first and hit the 'A' standard with a time of 7:39.57. The time is No.1 in the NAIA and fifth best in program history. Davelaar came back the next day and finished third in the 400m with a 'B' standard and personal-best time of 48.45. The sophomore's time is fourth best in program history and ranks 19th in the NAIA. Davelaar finished the weekend as part of the Defenders winning 4x400 relay that hit the 'A' standard again with a time of 7:39.57, third fastest in the NAIA second best in program history. Davelaar has now qualified in three individual events (400m, 600m and 800m) and is part of three relays that have also qualified for nationals.
