Week 2: GPAC Men's Indoor T&F Athletes of the Week

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week
Field Events – Robert Atwater, Midland University
Robert Atwater from Midland University is this week's field athlete-of-the-week. Atwater, a senior from Detroit, Michigan, made a splash in his first outing of the indoor season. He won the men's heptathlon with a score of 5254 points (best in the NAIA and a new Midland school record) while reaching the NAIA "A" Standard in two events. He jumped 7.43m in the long jump and cleared 2.12m in the high jump, earning the top spot in both events. He also had the best mark in the 60m, 60m hurdles, and pole vault during the heptathlon. He currently ranks first in the high jump, long jump, and heptathlon in the NAIA.
Track Events – Wilton George, Briar Cliff University
Briar Cliff University's Wilton George is this week's track athlete-of-the-week. George, a graduate student, from Lafayette, Louisiana, had three top-six finishes at the Bulldog Early Bird Meet in Seward, Nebraska. He had the fastest time in the 60m hurdles prelims at 8.15. George ran an automatic time of 8.03 to win the final which broke the school record of 8.05 he set last year. That is currently the second-fastest time in the country. He was runner-up in the 200m dash and sixth in the 60m dash.
