Week 6: GPAC Men's Indoor T&F Athletes of the Week

(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following men's indoor track & field athletes-of-the-week for events held February 5-11, 2024. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2023-2024 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Field Events – Trey Dickey, Doane University
Doane University's Trey Dickey is this week's field athlete-of-the-week. Dickey, a junior from Beaver Crossing, Nebraska, won the weight throw at the Concordia Invite with a season-best mark of 18.03m (59-02.00). That mark moved him into third on the GPAC performance list heading into the conference meet.

Track Events – Craig Becker, Dordt University

Dordt University's Craig Becker is this week's track athlete-of-the-week. Becker, a junior, from Atlantic, Iowa, hit the 'A' standard in two events at the SDSU Indoor Classic, the final tune-up prior to the GPAC Championship. On Friday night, Becker ran the 1600m anchor on the Defenders winning distance medley team that hit the 'A' standard (10:03.5) and is the No.6 time in the NAIA. The Defenders time ranks second all-time in the history of the program. Becker then followed with an outstanding race in the 1000m where he finished with the No.1 time in the NAIA and a school record time 2:25.12. He has now qualified in four events this indoor season, two individual (1000m and mile) and the 4x800 and distance medley relay.
