Field Events – Zach Zohner, Concordia University
Concordia University's Zach Zohner is this week's field athlete-of-the-week. Zohner, a junior, from Battle Creek, Nebraska, retook the NAIA lead in the men's pole vault with a clearance of 17-00.75 at the Concordia Classic. That vault puts him at No. 4 on Concordia's all-time program indoor pole vault list. Zohner finished as the 2023 NAIA indoor pole vault national runner up.
Track Events – Payton Mauldin, Dordt University
Dordt University's Payton Mauldin is this week's track athlete-of-the-week. Mauldin, a senior, from George, Iowa, hit the 'A' standard in two events and won three events at two different meets last weekend. On Friday night at the SDSU D2 Invite, Mauldin anchored the Defenders 4x800 relay that hit the 'A' standard with the No.1 time in the NAIA (7:40.18). Mauldin then won both the 200m and 4x200 relay on Saturday at the Dennis Young Invite. He hit the 'A' standard in the 200m with the 10th fastest time in the NAIA (21.95) and then anchored the winning 4x200 relay with a school record time of 1:31.05. Mauldin has hit the 'A' standard in three individual events (200m, 600m and 800m) and two relays (4x400 and 4x800); having the No.1 time in four events (600m, 800m, 4x400 and 4x800).
