Week 7: Men's Indoor Track & Field Honors
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following men's indoor track & field athletes-of-the-week for events held February 6-12, 2023. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2022-2023 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week
Field Events – Dylan Kucera, Midland University
Dylan Kucera from Midland University is this week's field athlete-of-the-week. Kucera, a senior from Fremont, Nebraska, won both throwing events at the Concordia Indoor Invite last week. He had the top toss in the shot put at 18.27m, a full meter better than the rest of the field. In the weight throw, he had a distance of 20.23m, which is the furthest throw in the NAIA this season. He ranks first in both events nationally heading into the GPAC Championships.
Track Events – Zach Turner, Doane University
Doane University's Zach Turner is this week's track athlete-of-the-week. Turner, a junior, from Crete, Nebraska, set two fieldhouse records while competing at the Concordia Invite last weekend. He hit the 'A' standard in both events, the 60m hurdles and 200m. He won the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.95, just off his season best and fourth fastest time in the NAIA (7.90). Turner followed with a first-place finish in the 200m where he hit the 'A' standard with a season-best time of 21.63, 10th fastest in the NAIA. He ranks first in the GPAC in both events.
