Week 8: GPAC Tennis Players of the Week
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following tennis players-of-the-week for April 24-30, 2023. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2022-2023 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Tennis Weekly Honors
Women's Tennis – Kristina Khmelevskaia, Midland University
Kristina Khmelevskaia of Midland University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Tennis Player of the Week. Khmelevskaia, a senior from Vladivostok, Russia, was clutch for Midland this week. She battled to win a three-set match on Monday against Morningside to win the GPAC regular season championship. Later in the week, she went 4-0 to help guide the Warriors to a GPAC tournament championship. Once again, she earned a hard-fought battle at No. 2 versus Morningside in the title match.
Men's Tennis – Tycho Janssen, Midland University
Tycho Janssen of Midland University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Tennis Player of the Week. Janssen, a junior from Nijmegen, Netherlands, helped the Warriors to an outright regular-season championship and a tournament championship in the GPAC this week. He was unbeaten in doubles play (2-0) alongside Luca Struffi and won all three of his singles matches. In the conference tournament, he won both singles matches in straight sets, including a thrilling double tie-breaker win to help clinch Midland's fourth straight tournament championship.
