Week 3: GPAC Tennis Players of the Week
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following tennis players-of-the-week for March 20-26, 2023. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2022-2023 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Tennis Weekly Honors
Women's Tennis – Ari Lumanog, Midland University
Ari Lumanog of Midland University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Tennis Player of the Week. Lumanog, a senior from Albuquerque, New Mexico, helped guide Midland to a sweep of Simpson on the road this week. Teaming with Kristian Khmelevskaia, they set the tone at No. 1 doubles with a 6-0 win. In singles action, she won in straight sets at No. 1s. The win was historic for the Warriors as it marked the 100th career win for head coach Bruno Campos.
Men's Tennis – Santiago Abadia, Concordia University
Santiago Abadia of Concordia University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Tennis Player of the Week. Abadia, a freshman from Bogota, Columbia, went 2-0 in both singles and doubles for the week as Concordia secured two team victories. Abadia won his singles matches in dominant fashion - 6-1, 6-1, and 6-1, 6-0. He improved his overall singles record this season to 7-3. As a team, the Bulldogs have won five matches in a row.
