Week 6: GPAC Tennis Players of the Week
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following tennis players-of-the-week for contests played April 18-24, 2022. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2021-22 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Tennis Weekly Honors
Women's Tennis – Ari Lumanog, Midland University
Ari Lumanog of Midland University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Tennis Player of the Week. Lumanog, a junior from Albuquerque, New Mexico, helped guide the Warriors to the GPAC regular-season title this week. A mainstay at the No. 1 spot in doubles and singles, she improved to 22-7 as an individual and won her 17th doubles point as well. Midland capped off the conference season with an undefeated 7-0 record.
Men's Tennis – Miguel Abete, Midland University
Miguel Abete of Midland University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Tennis Player of the Week. Abete, a senior from Pamplona, Spain, helped Midland capture the regular-season GPAC title this week with an impressive sweep of Doane. He won his 19th singles match of the season with a straight-set win at No. 1s. In doubles play, he and teammate Ryosei Masuda took down the Tigers' top duo 6-2. The Warriors capped off an unbeaten conference season and won their fourth conference title in five seasons.
