Week 5: GPAC Tennis Honors

(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following tennis players-of-the-week for contests played April 12-18, 2021. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2020-21 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Tennis Weekly Honors

Women's Tennis – Claudia Miranda Viera, Concordia University

Claudia Miranda Viera of Concordia University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Tennis Player of the Week. Viera, a senior from Madrid, Spain, helped Concordia remain unbeaten in the GPAC by going 2-0 at both No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles on the week. Miranda Viera and doubles partner Sofia Morales were especially dominant in taking decisions by scores of 6-0 and 6-1 against GPAC competition. The Bulldogs are 5-0 in conference play.

Men's Tennis – Nunzio Thiel, Midland University
Nunzio Thiel of Midland University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Tennis Player of the Week. Thiel, a sophomore from Mallorca, Spain, was unbeaten this week as he won both of his singles matches and both of his doubles matches. This season he is a team-best 11-4 in singles play and has an impressive 9-3 mark in doubles action.
