GPAC Men's Golf Final Rounds April 22-23
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The final two rounds of the 2021-22 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men's Golf Championships are scheduled for April 22-23 at The Bluffs in Vermillion, South Dakota. Golfers will tee off every ten minutes starting at 10 AM from holes one and ten on Friday.
The first two rounds were played in the Fall at Indian Creek in Elkhorn, Nebraska.
Morningside, the defending GPAC Champion, is the team leader after the Fall rounds with a 571 (278, 293). Briar Cliff had the low round of the second day with a 288 and moved into a tie with Midland for second at 588. Northwestern is fourth with a 599 while Doane is fifth with a 602.
Individually, Mason Weeks and Sam Storey from Morningside are co-leaders through 36 holes at -3 (141). Peyton Koch from Midland had the top score of round two with a 69. Xan Milligan from Morningside is third overall at 142 (-2), while Koch and Freddy Bullock from Dordt tied for fifth at 144 (E). Defending champion Jonny Douglas from Morningside is in a tie for 11th.
The GPAC Men's Golf Champion receives an automatic berth in the NAIA Men's National Golf Championship in Silvis, Illinois, at the TPC Deer Run. The NAIA National Men's Golf Championships are set for May 17-20, 2022. The GPAC medalist (if not on the qualifying team) also qualifies for the NAIA Championships.
