Week 12: GPAC Football Players of the Week
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following football players-of-the-week for games played the week of November 11-17, 2024. Hauff Mid-America Sports/ Football Players-of-the-Week
Offense – Sam Hartman, Quarterback (Doane University)
Doane University quarterback Sam Hartman is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Hartman, a freshman from Grand Island, Nebraska, carried the Tigers to a win on Saturday at Mount Marty, orchestrating a 96-yard drive in the final 2:28 to upset the Lancers. He had his hand in all 96 yards as he threw for 81 yards and ran for 15 yards on the final drive. As time expired, Hartman found Andrew Waido for a 12-yard touchdown and on the two-point conversion attempt he connected with James Miles III while being tackled. He finished the game with 257 yards passing on 14 completions with three touchdowns and added 57 rushing yards to lead the ground game.
Defense – Daylon Henson, Defensive Back (Concordia University)
Defensive Back Daylon Henson of Concordia University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Henson, a junior from Pearland, Texas, continued his playmaking ways in No. 20 Concordia's 45-13 win at Midland. Henson notched his sixth pick of the season (tied for most in the GPAC) and added six tackles, one stop for loss, three pass breakups, a forced fumble and fumble recovery. Henson and his defensive teammates held the Warriors scoreless in the second half.
Special Teams – Eli Stader, Punter/Kicker (Northwestern College)
Eli Stader of Northwestern College is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Special Teams Player-of-the-Week. Stader, a senior from Cedar Grove, Wisconsin, was impactful in Northwestern's 71-7 win on Saturday, most notably hitting a program-record and NAIA-leading 60-yard field goal. He also recovered a fumbled kickoff return and went 6-for-6 on extra point attempts, all in the first half.
