Week 9: GPAC Football Players of the Week
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following football players-of-the-week for games played the week of October 21-27, 2024. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2024-25 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Offense – Zack Chevalier, Quarterback (Morningside University)
Morningside quarterback Zack Chevalier is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Chevalier, a junior from Santa Clarita, California, led Morningside to a 31-21 victory over fourth-ranked Dordt Defenders this week. He passed for 308 yards and three touchdowns against a Dordt defense that had averaged just 159.3 passing yards and 11.5 points per game in its six prior contests. The Mustangs host Northwestern on Saturday, November 2. Kick off will be at1 pm.
Defense – Dijion Walls, Defensive Back (Morningside University)
Defensive back Dijion Walls of Morningside University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Walls, a senior from Hazelwood, Missouri, recorded a pair of tackles and three interceptions in this week's NAIA Top 10 matchup, as the Mustangs defeated the fourth-ranked Dordt Defenders. Walls' final pick of the day came in the fourth quarter, cutting off a Defender drive just outside of the red zone. Morningside's defense held Dordt to 21 points, well short of their average of 40.67 points per game prior to the contest. The Mustangs host Northwestern on Saturday, November 2. Kick off will be at1 pm.
Special Teams – Kelen Meyer, Kicker/Punter (Doane University)
Kelen Meyer of Doane University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Special Teams Player-of-the-Week. Meyer, a junior from Ord, Nebraska, converted field goals of 42 and 51 yards and was a perfect 4-for-4 on PATs in the win over Hastings. He also averaged 41.7 yards per punt, placing four of his seven attempts inside the 20-yard line. The Tigers have the week off before hosting Midland on Saturday, November 9. Kick off will be at 1 pm.
