Week 6: GPAC Football Players of the Week
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following football players-of-the-week for games played the week of September 30- October 6, 2024. Offense – Kaden Harken, Wide Receiver (Dordt University)
Dordt wide receiver Kaden Harken is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Harken, a sophomore from Spokane, Washington, piled up the yards on offense for the Defenders. He had 10 catches for 217 receiving yards, the most for a Defender since 2016 and the fourth most in program history. He is averaging over 17 yards per catch on the year. The Defenders travel to Mount Marty for a Friday night contest on October 11. Kick off will be at 7 pm.
Defense – Carson Fehlhafer, Defensive Line (Concordia University)
Defensive lineman Carson Fehlhafer of Concordia University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Fehlhafer, a junior from Utica, Nebraska, set the tone up front as Concordia upset No. 2 Northwestern, 29-17, on the road. Fehlhafer registered seven tackles, three sacks and a pass breakup for a defensive line that helped limit the Red Raiders to an average of 1.7 yards per rush (52 total rushing yards). The pressure also helped the Bulldogs intercept four Northwestern passes. The Bulldogs have the weekend off before traveling to take on Doane on October 19.
Special Teams – Tyson Denkert, Return Specialist / Running Back (Midland University)
Tyson Denkert of Midland University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Special Teams Player-of-the-Week. Denkert, a junior from Kennesaw, Nebraska, had an 83-yard punt return for a touchdown in Midland's 28-14 win at Waldorf. He accounted for 281 all-purpose yards and had a hand in 3 of the 4 Warrior touchdowns. He had a touchdown run and threw for a score as well. This season, he is averaging 203.8 all-purpose yards per game (best in GPAC). The Warriors will travel to Sioux City, Iowa, to take on Briar Cliff on October 12. Kick off will be at 1 pm.
