Week 10: Football Players-of-the-Week
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following football players-of-the-week for games played the week of October 31-November 6, 2022. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2022-23 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/ Football Players-of-the-Week
Offense – Ryan Cole, Running Back (Morningisde University)
Morningside running back Ryan Cole is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Cole, a sophomore from Saint Ansgar, Iowa, rushed for 171 yards and three touchdowns against Doane. He made the most of his carriers, averaging 9.5 yards per tote on just 18 attempts. He also hauled in one pass for 10 yards. The top-ranked Mustangs travel to Seward, Nebraska, to take on Concordia on November 12. Kick off will be at 1 pm.
Defense – Ben Egli, Linebacker (Northwestern College)
Linebacker Ben Egli of Northwestern College is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Egli, a freshman, from Fort Dodge, Iowa, led the team with nine tackles in the 42-10 win over No. 15-ranked Midland on Saturday. He also recorded one tackle for loss. To conclude the third quarter, he had a pick-six for 31 yards, notching his team-high third interception of the season. The third-ranked Raiders travel to Hastings, Nebraska, to take on the Broncos on November 12. Kick off will be at 1 pm.
Special Teams – Michael Payne, Wide Reciever (Morningside University)
Michael Payne of Morningside University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Special Teams Player-of-the-Week. Payne, a junior from Omaha, Nebraska, had a 65-yard punt return in this week's game against Doane, taking it to the endzone for a quick score. He totaled 90 yards on special teams this week. The top-ranked Mustangs travel to Seward, Nebraska, to take on Concordia on November 12. Kick off will be at 1 pm.
