Week 5: Football Players-of-the-Week
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following football players-of-the-week for games played the week of September 26-October 1, 2022. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2022-23 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/ Football Players-of-the-Week
Offense – Javon Bowie-Monteiro, Wide Receiver (University of Jamestown)
Jamestown Wide Receiver Javon Bowie-Monteiro is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Bowie-Monteiro, a senior from Sacramento, California, tied a Jamestown single-game record with three touchdown catches in the Jimmies' 41-17 win over Doane. In all he caught five passes for 142 yards with scoring plays of 13, 62, and 25 yards. The Jimmies will travel to Seward, Nebraska to take on Concordia, on October 7th. Kick off will be at 1 pm.
Defense – Joshua Miller, Linebacker (Morningside University)
Linebacker Joshua Miller of Morningside University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Miller, a senior, from Lincoln, Nebraska, led the Mustangs defense in a 47-12 win over the No. 17-ranked Midland Warriors. He recorded 12 total tackles, including a pair of sacks and 2.5 tackles for a loss. The top-ranked Mustangs host Hastings College, on October 7th. Kick off will be at 1:30 pm.
Special Teams – Jared Quinonez, Kicker (Midland University)
Jared Quinonez of Midland University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Special Teams Player-of-the-Week. Quinonez, a junior, from Tijuana, Mexico, connected on four first-half field goals on Saturday as No. 17 Midland led No. 1 Morningside, 12-10. He was good from 25, 29, 40, and 46 yards, setting a new personal long. Throughout his career, he is now 20 for 25. The Warriors will travel to take on Briar Cliff in Sioux City, Iowa, on October 7th. Kick off will be at 1 pm.
