Week 4: Football Players-of-the-Week
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following football players-of-the-week for games played the week of September 19-25, 2022. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2022-23 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/ Football Players-of-the-Week
Offense – Jalyn Gramstad, Quarterback (Northwestern College)
Northwestern quarterback Jalyn Gramstad is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Gramstad, a sophomore from Lester, Iowa, was the spark the Raider offense needed in the second half to get past Concordia. He notched 576 yards of total offense, all in the second half. He set new career-highs in passing yards (179), rushing yards (177), and rushing touchdowns (4). He was the first Red Raider to rush for four touchdowns since 2013, while also throwing his first-career touchdown pass. The fourth-ranked Raiders will host Mount Marty in Orange City, Iowa, on October 1st. Kick off will be at 1:30 pm.
Defense – Koby Brandenburg, Defensive Back (Hastings College)
Defensive back Koby Brandenburg of Hastings College is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Brandenburg, a senior, from Central City, Nebraska, had a pair of interceptions in the Broncos victory over Dakota Wesleyan. His first interception led to a key field goal early in the fourth to put Hastings up 26-7. His second interception led to the final Hastings touchdown in the fourth quarter to put the game away at 32-13. He also recorded six tackles and a pass break up. The Broncos host Briar Cliff in Hastings, Nebraska, on October 1st. Kick off will be at 1 pm.
Special Teams – Jason Bachle, KickerPunter (Hastings College)
Jason Bachle of Hastings College is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Special Teams Player-of-the-Week. Bachle, a senior, from Grand Island, Nebraska, contributed in a variety of ways for the Broncos on special teams. He made his only field goal of the day, and picked up seven yards and a first down on a fake punt to keep a drive alive late in the third quarter. He also pinned Dakota Wesleyan inside the five twice on punts, including one coming in the fourth quarter where he blasted a 52-yard kick that turned sideways right at the one-yard line. He also averaged 44.4 yards per punt. The Broncos host Briar Cliff in Hastings, Nebraska, on October 1st. Kick off will be at 1 pm.
