Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Baseball Weekly Honors
Pitcher – Alex Johnson, Concordia University
Alex Johnson of Concordia University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports pitcher-of-the-week. Johnson, a senior from Olathe, Kansas, returned to the mound and made his first start since Feb. 25, 2023 (due to injuries). Johnson went 4.2 innings versus No. 15 Bellevue and held the Bruins to one run on one hit and one walk while recording nine strikeouts. No. 20 Concordia went 3-0 on the weekend with three wins over ranked opponents.
Player – Nico Sall, Briar Cliff University (Utility)
Briar Cliff utility player Nico Sall is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports baseball player-of-the-week. Sall, a junior from Omaha, Nebraska, posted a .692 batting average with nine RBIs, one home run, three doubles, scored nine runs, and recorded two stolen bases as the Chargers split their four-game series against the Benedictine Ravens. Sall held an OBP of .750 and a SLG of 1.154. In the second game of the series, Sall went four-for-four at the plate with three RBIs, a stolen base, and scored three runs.
