Concordia and Doane Advance to GPAC Baseball Tournament Title Game

(Sioux City, Iowa) – The championship game is set in the 2024 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Postseason Baseball Tournament.  Top seed, and regular season co-champion, Concordia and second seed, and co-champion, Doane and will play on Tuesday, May 7, at 6 PM in Seward.

In each of the brackets the "if needed" game was needed on Saturday as the 2-0 teams (Concordia and Doane) each were defeated in the first game of the day.

In Crete, Nebraska, in the Doane bracket, the host Tigers were knocked off by Jamestown by a score of 8-6. The upset minded Jimmies led 1-0, but Doane answered in the bottom of the inning and from that point Jamestown was never able to get a lead against Doane in the final game of the bracket, as the Tigers were winners 11-4.

In the other bracket, it was Midland who came out with a pair of runs to jump on Concordia early in the first game. Concordia was able to retake the lead in the top of the third, but the Warriors answered and never game up the lead in a 7-5 win. In the bracket title game, runs were at a premium with neither team scoring until the sixth inning when the Bulldogs put three on the board, followed by a run in the seventh and five in the eight to cruise to a 9-1 victory.

The GPAC Tournament Championship Game is a winner take all contest (9 innings).

Both teams in the title game have secured a berth to the NAIA Opening Round, Concordia as the regular season championship. The GPAC Tournament Champion will receive the second berth.  If Concordia wins the GPAC Tournament, Doane (as co-champion) will receive the second GPAC berth to the NAIA Opening Round.
