Week 9: GPAC Baseball Players of the Week

(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following baseball player and pitcher-of-the-week for contests played April 15-21, 2024. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2023-2024 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program. 

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Baseball Weekly Honors

Pitcher – James Velasquez, Hastings College

James Velasquez of Hastings College is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports pitcher-of-the-week.  Velasquez, a junior from Sahuarita, Arizona, tossed a complete-game shutout against Dordt going 7.0 innings giving up just four hits while striking out a career-high 10 in the win over the Defenders. He is now 6-2 on the season with a team leading 60 strikeouts on the year.

Player – Joey Grabanski, Concordia University (Left Field)

Joey Grabanski of Concordia University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports player-of-the-week.  Grabanski, a senior from Grand Forks, North Dakota, went 7-for-8 (.875) with three home runs and 12 RBIs in a doubleheader sweep of Hastings. Grabanski increased his NAIA career home run record to 82 while pushing his career RBI total to 281 (14 shy of the NAIA all-time record). Grabanski is hitting .389 with 20 home runs and 69 RBIs in 43 games this season.
