Doane Wins 2023 GPAC Baseball Tournament Championship

(Sioux City, Iowa) – Top seed Doane made it a clean sweep of the regular season and tournament titles as they defeated two seed Concordia 1-0 in the championship game of the 2023 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Baseball Tournament in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The GPAC Championship was moved to Dan Hartog Field in Lincoln, Nebraska due to weather concerns throughout the afternoon in Crete, Nebraska.

The Tigers needed just one run, coming on a ground ball out in the fourth inning by Luke LaChance, to pick up the win. Doane's ace Aaron Forrest went 8 2/3 innings, scattering five Concordia hits while striking out five. Jake Johnson got the save, picking up the last out of the game.

Both teams have secured berths to the NAIA Opening Round as Concordia was the runner-up of the regular season. The NAIA Baseball National Championship Selection Show is on Thursday, May 11 at 4 pm.
