Women's Soccer Title Game Set: Midland vs. Dordt
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Postseason Women’s Soccer Tournament finals are now set after quarterfinal and semifinal action is complete. After a pair of upsets on Tuesday, Friday’s final is now set as Midland and Dordt will play in Fremont, Nebraska.
Top seed Hastings lost for just the second time this season as Dordt, the four seed, emerged from the Broncos homefield with a 1-0 win. Lydia Zylstra, the Defenders keeper, had 10 saves to finish with the clean sheet.
On the other side of the bracket, it was third seed Midland who advanced 2-0 win over second seed Concordia. Sydney Herren and Addison Castellanos each scored for the Warriors. Herren had a hand in both goals, finishing with a goal and an assist.
The finals will be played on Friday, November 10, at 7 PM in Fremont, Nebraska.
The winner of the GPAC Tournament will advance, as the league's second automatic representative, to the NAIA National Women's Soccer National Championship Opening Round (on November 16-18). If the regular season champion (Hastings) would have won the Tournament, Concordia (as two seed), would have receive the second NAIA berth to the postseason.
The NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship Final Site is in Foley, Alabama, November 27 – December 4, 2023, at Championship Stadium.
