Week 11: GPAC Women's Soccer Players of the Week
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following Women’s Soccer Players-of-the-Week for contests played October 30-November 5, 2023. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2023-2024 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Women's Soccer Players-of-the-Week
Women's Offense – Hanna Schimmer, Midland University (Forward)
Hanna Schimmer of Midland University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Schimmer, a sophomore from Council Bluffs, had a pair of goals as Midland defeated the College of Saint Mary in the opening round of the GPAC Postseason Tournament. She paced the Warriors' attack with 9 shots on the Flames' defense. For the season, Schimmer leads the team in goals with 16, ranking 3rd in the conference and 20th nationally.
Women's Defense – Addison Castellanos, Midland University (Defender)
Addison Castellanos of Midland University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Castellanos, a sophomore from Murrieta, California, played a big role in the Warriors' shutout victory over the College of Saint Mary this week. As an anchor in the back line, she helped limit the Flames to just 4 shots in the GPAC Quarterfinal match, the second-fewest shots put up by the Flames this season. Addison has been a keep piece to Midland's run of seven matches without a defeat.
