MEN
Tyson Beauperthuy, Doane University – 184lb Weight Class
Doane University wrestler Tyson Beauperthuy is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Wrestler-of-the-Week. Beauperthuy, a junior from Colorado Springs, Colorado, won the 184 Elite Division, going 4-0 on the day. He started with a pin of NCAA Division II Matthew Rodriguez followed with a tech fall win over NAIA #1 Grand View's Lucas Hageman. In the semifinals, Beauperthuy defeated Hunter Mullin, an alum of NCAA Division II Western Colorado, by decision, 8-5. In the championship, he won by major decision, 13-2, over NCAA Division II Seth Sarasua.
WOMEN
Karina Vang, Doane University – 103lb Weight Class
Doane University wrestler Karina Vang is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Wrestler-of-the-Week. Vang, a junior from Fresno, California, took second place at the Falcon Open. She opened with a tech fall win and a decision victory to advance to the semifinals. She faced Piper Montoya, winner of the Brian Keck Memorial Preseason H.S. Nationals last weekend at 100 lbs. Vang pinned Montoya in 2:20. In the championship, she faced Audare Cruz, wrestling unattached and last year's 6th place finisher at nationals, falling 4-0.
